First imagined as a ‘marketplace’, Woori Festival was conceived to be a space where new ideas, exchanges, innovation, and opportunities regarding traditional textile making and weaving industry could be brought to fruition and celebrated within the community.

Though the idea came to our founders almost 10 years ago, Woori Festival 2021 was the first showcase of Nubuke Foundation’s efforts to record, preserve and promote weaving tradition.

Last year’s program consisted of live weaving demonstrations, exhibitions from master weavers to students of the School of the Blind and School of the Deaf to even tours of the Wechiau Hippo Sanctuary and other regional landmarks highlighting  the work and lives of the communities in the Upper West
